Sewage Pump Station Replacement
Study and design for pump station replacement, Murfreesboro, Tennessee.The City of Murfreesboro needed to upgrade its pump stations on Northwest Broad Street. CIA performed a study to weigh the cost of pump station rehabilitation versus the cost of pump station replacement. The study resulted in the decision to replace three older sewage pump stations with a single new wet-well-mounted sewage pump station. CIA designed the new pump station, which included replacement of deteriorated structural elements and electrical controls.
The benefits of the new single pump station include:
- Replacement parts for upgraded equipment are readily available, as opposed to retrofitting obsolete equipment;
- New station meets new city pump station standards with regard to equipment, access, ownership, controls, confined spaces, and water service
- Significant and measurable cost savings related to staff operating and maintaining a single pump station versus three pump stations
- Energy cost savings related to a single electric service and operating one pump versus three
